Early Saturday morning, Callie Tullos, 23, and Ashleigh Dodd, 24, both of Riesel, died in a car crash that occurred on Surrey Ridge Lane.

At 1:30am, Tullos was driving on Surrey Ridge Lane just past the intersection of Buckskin Lane when she lost control of her vehicle and hit a tree on the side of the road.  Both Tullos and Dodd died in the accident.  Both women were graduates of Riesel High School (Tullos in 2007, Dodd in 2006), and Tullos was a senior at Baylor University studying financial services and planning.  Saturday was Dodd’s 24th birthday.

The accident is still under investigation.  Our thoughts and prayers are with the victims’ families.

At 8:30am Monday morning, a Dodge Ram pickup truck collided with a Chevrolet Alero at the intersection of 26 Street and Bosque Boulevard.

According to police, the Alero was driving south on 26 Street when it collided with the eastbound pickup truck on Bosque Boulevard.  Both drivers were female, and they were each driving alone.

They were transported to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center with minor injuries.

At 6:45am Wednesday morning on the 5000 block of Hwy 64, a car crashed into the back of a school bus.

Six children were on board the school bus, but fortunately, none of them were injured.  The driver was rushed to Henderson hospital.

Currently, crews are still cleaning up the debris from the incident.  Police have not released any names and are still investigating.

David Michael Martin, 40, of Hewitt, was arrested Wednesday for a car accident in October in which he killed 2 year old Ivyana Sheppard of Bellmead.

Martin was charged with intoxication manslaughter.  According to police, his blood alcohol level at the time of the crash was three times the legal limit.  Martin was driving his Ford pickup truck when he collided with a 1985 Chevrolet Caprice driven by David Sheppard, 24, of Beverly Hills.  The accident occurred at the intersection of Bagby Avenue and Corporation Parkway in Waco.

A witness took Sheppard and the girl to Hillcrest Baptist Medical Center where she later died.
