Fort Worth police were led on a low-speed chase (16mph, to be exact) on the interstate after a man allegedly stole a forklift. Investigators say he took the forklift, along with this dog, to the liquor store. Witnesses say they saw the man driving a forklift down the street while drinking a beer.

Police first attempted to pull him over but the 43 year-old man began to throwing cans of beer at them. Luckily, no one was injured. The man is currently behind bars, charged with theft, aggravated assault on a peace officer, and driving while intoxicated. He was previously jailed in the 90s for two DUIs and drug charges.

The father of an 8 year-old boy let him drive his pickup truck along I-12 on their way back to Dallas last week. The man was passed out drunk in the passenger seat. In the back was the man’s 4 year-old daughter.

Police pulled over the truck when another driver called saying the vehicle was driving erratically by what seemed to be a child driver. The father has since been charged with two counts of child desertion, a parent allowing a minor to drive, not wearing a seat belt, and two counts of no child restraint as well as having an open container of alcohol in the car.

The children were turned over to Child Protective Services following their father’s arrest.

Waco man sentenced to life in prison for 9th DWI

Posted on Tuesday, June 28th, 2011 at 4:56 pm

A 52-year-old man from Waco was recently sentenced to life in prison after he was convicted of his ninth DWI. Jurors who made the decision to sentence the man to life in prison stated their concern for people who could have been hurt by the man’s drunk driving.

The man was arrested last September after officers found him to be driving drunk with a blood-alcohol content of 0.26 percent. This was the man’s ninth DWI arrest since 1985. The man had also served time in jails throughout Houston and Waco.

According to the prosecution attorney, Abel Reyna, “If you victimize our citizens or put our citizens in jeopardy by your conduct, then we will respond swiftly and aggressively…and that’s what happened in this case.”

The man will begin serving his sentence immediately.
